One week before the start of the seminar in Milledgeville, six of us decided to visit New York City first.
For most of us, it was our first time visiting the US, and it was an amazing start to the trip. We saw so many places we only knew from movies and TV shows. Seeing the avenues lined with skyscrapers felt like being right in a movie shot from a brand new Spider-Man movie. At Rockefeller Center, we even watched the first World Cup semifinal match between France and Spain (Spain won!). On two of the evenings, we went out to a bar (including a rooftop bar near Times Square) with two American students from the seminar.
We saw so much in those four days! We would definitely recommend that future students heading to the US visit New York or another place on the East Coast first.

Our itinerary for four days in New York was the following:
First day:
- Financial District/Wall Street
- 9/11 Memorial
- Staten Island Ferry (you can see the Statue of Liberty for free from the ferry)
- Chinatown
- Brooklyn Bridge
- Brooklyn
Second day:
- Grand Central Station
- Trump Tower
- Rockefeller Center
- Times Square
- Upper East Side
- First semi-final game of the World Cup at Rockefeller Center Public Viewing
- Bar with two American students
Third day:
- Central Park
- Vessel
- Second semi-final game of the World Cup
- Rooftop Bar with two American students (rooftop bar is a big recommendation)
Fourth day:
- UN Headquartes um 11h (recommendation if you are interested in global politics)
- Vintage Shopping in SoHo
- High Line
- Rockefeller Center Top of the Rock (better without smog)
